These terms apply to purchases of goods through our online store. References to “we”, “us” and “our” mean the business identified above.
2. Products and suitability
We aim to describe our products accurately, including relevant measurements, specifications and compatibility information. Product photographs are illustrative; colours may appear differently on different screens.
Please check measurements, handing, fixing positions and compatibility before ordering. If you are unsure which part you need, contact us before purchasing.
Our products must be fitted and used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Where appropriate, use a suitably qualified installer.
These provisions do not affect our responsibility to supply goods that match their description, are of satisfactory quality and are suitable for any particular purpose you have made known to us and that we have accepted.
3. Orders and payment
You can review and correct your order before completing checkout. Payment is due when you place your order, using a payment method offered at checkout.
An automated order acknowledgement confirms that we have received your order. We accept your order, and a contract is formed, when we email confirmation that the goods have been dispatched.
If we cannot accept your order, for example because an item is unavailable, we will notify you and promptly refund any payment taken for it.
If we identify a pricing or product-description error before accepting your order, we will explain the error and allow you to choose whether to proceed on the corrected basis or cancel for a full refund. We will not charge an increased price without your agreement.
4. Prices and delivery charges
All prices are in pounds sterling. Consumer prices include VAT where applicable. The total amount payable, including delivery and any applicable taxes, is shown before you complete your order.
Our standard delivery charge is £8.00 excluding VAT.
Any location restrictions or different delivery charges will be explained before you place your order.
5. Delivery
Our standard delivery service aims to deliver within 1–3 working days after dispatch, unless a different timeframe is stated before purchase. Working days exclude weekends and relevant bank holidays.
Delivery times are estimates unless we expressly agree a guaranteed date. We will notify you of significant delays and explain the available options.
Unless we agree otherwise, goods will be delivered without undue delay and within 7 days of accepting your order. Your legal rights concerning late delivery remain unaffected, including any right to cancel and receive a refund.
Please provide an accurate delivery address. Contact us promptly if your parcel is delayed, missing or damaged.
For consumer orders, the goods remain our responsibility until they come into your physical possession, or that of someone you nominate to receive them, subject to any statutory exception where you independently appoint a carrier.
6. Cancelling a consumer order
If you buy as a consumer, you normally have the right to cancel an online order without giving a reason.
You may cancel before delivery or within 14 days beginning the day after you receive the goods. If goods from one order arrive separately, this period normally begins the day after the last item arrives.
To cancel, email sales@haugesundhardware.com or send a clear cancellation statement to our business address. Include your name, order number and the goods concerned. You may use the cancellation form below, but this is optional.
You must send the goods back within 14 days after telling us that you wish to cancel.
7. Change-of-mind returns and refunds
You are responsible for the direct cost of returning goods when you change your mind. We cover reasonable return costs where goods are faulty, incorrectly described or supplied incorrectly because of our error.
Please contact us for return instructions and package goods securely. Keep proof of posting. Contacting us for instructions does not make your statutory cancellation right dependent on our approval.
You may inspect the goods as you would in a shop. Where legally permitted, we may reduce your refund to reflect a loss in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning. Fitting or using a part may go beyond that inspection.
Please return any packaging and accessories where reasonably possible. Original packaging is not a condition of exercising your statutory rights.
If you cancel the whole order, we will refund the goods and the cost of our least expensive standard delivery option. Any additional amount paid for an upgraded delivery service is not refundable under the change-of-mind cancellation right.
We will refund you without undue delay and no later than 14 days after receiving the returned goods or evidence that you sent them back, whichever is earlier. If no goods were supplied, we will refund within 14 days of being told of your cancellation.
Refunds use the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise, without a refund fee.
8. Bespoke or personalised goods
The statutory change-of-mind cancellation right does not normally apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised. Where relevant, we will identify these goods before purchase.
A standard item does not become exempt simply because we specially order it from a supplier.
Your rights concerning faulty, misdescribed or otherwise non-conforming goods still apply.
9. Faulty, damaged or incorrect goods
If goods arrive damaged, are faulty or do not match your order, contact sales@haugesundhardware.com promptly with your order details and a description of the issue. Photographs may help us resolve it.
Consumers have legal remedies for goods that are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to meet statutory standards. These normally include a 30-day right to reject qualifying goods for a refund. After that period, repair or replacement rights may apply, followed in appropriate circumstances by a price reduction or a final right to reject.
We will arrange or pay reasonable return costs where we are legally responsible. Any assessment of a reported fault will respect your statutory rights and the applicable rules about proving when a fault arose.
Damage caused by misuse, incorrect fitting or alteration is not itself a manufacturing fault. This does not remove your rights for an independent defect for which we are responsible.
Any manufacturer’s guarantee is additional to your statutory rights.
10. Our responsibility
We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of contract or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Nothing in these terms restricts your statutory consumer rights.
11. Complaints and personal information
Please send complaints to sales@haugesundhardware.com, including your order number and details of the issue.
We will not use your personal information for anything except invoicing and good delivery.
12. Changes and applicable law
We may update these terms for future orders. The version provided when you place your order applies to that order unless a change is required by law.
These terms are governed by the law of the United Kingdom. This does not deprive consumers of mandatory legal protections or rights to bring proceedings in the courts available to them under applicable law.
